Field Trips

2012 Field Trips

Regular Trips Include...
1) Each Wednesday to our local library where Kenna participates in Story-Time for preschoolers while Maddy and I complete Maddy's "computer" for the day.

September:
   1) Joined other WADI families for an "Olympic" Get-Acquainted Picnic at one of our local parks. There was potato sack races, hula hooping, dancing with batons with ribbons, a bean bag toss, and chalk for sidewalk art. The park also has some great playground equipment that we enjoyed. WADI supplied the picnic consisting of ham roll-ups and apple slices.
  2) To see "Finding Nemo 3-D" and then to Backyard Burgers for supper
  3) To the Teddy Bear Care Fair at a local hospital. The purpose of the program is to introduce children, ages 3 - 3rd grade, to the process and procedures that take place should the need arise that they be hospitalized. Each child takes their own stuffed animal and then the "patient" is registered, goes through X-ray (the kids are given a copy of the X-ray), through lab ("blood" is drawn), to surgery (where ripped seams can be "operated on" and sewn closed or other procedures can be done), to respiratory therapy (the patient gets a breathing treatment), to physical therapy (each patient received a splint), and then are discharged. The kids are given a booklet at registration and each station provides a sticker for the book and for the child. Many stations also had other "gifts" for the children:  magnifying glass (X-ray), bubbles (at the face-painting booth), snacks, bottled water, and a goodie bag (discharge). There was a "get well card" station. State officers were doing car seat checks and both an ambulance and a Life Flight helicopter were available for exploring.
