Find Words That Rhyme Fast!

While writing a poem to send out as part of our invitation to our library's reading club for kindergarten and first graders, I found this great website that will a wonderful resource for spelling.

http://www.rhymer.com/

The poem? So far, it sounds like this...

500 Page Club

Once upon a time in a land far away,
School began for the children one bright, sunny day

They read lots of books and played fun games, too,
And one day decided that they should combine the two.

So a book club was created: 500 Hundred Page Club was the name,
To bring friends together to read and play fun games.

We hope you are interested, it will be such a great day.
If you are ready to join, call Therese right away!

Happy, Happy Kids

Good article! Makes feel good that we are doing most of these things already! Not sure I agree with letting your child throw a temper tantrum in the middle of a store, but do not agree with giving in and letting them have their way either.

Mini Missions

We signed up with scholastic.com to participate in Scholastic's Reading Club. But, while on the website, found the "Mini Wheats Challenge" that we are participating in. It's called "Mini Missions".
Day 2 of the 5-Day Challenge. Having fun and downloaded a free "Mini Wheats" book.

Again, I admit I let my blogging fall along the wayside last year. But this year, as our new school year begins on the day after Labor Day, I am committed to keeping up with my blog.

Fun Fact
The dog days of summer are the hottest days of the season. They are named after Sirius, the Dog Star. During this time, the Dog Star gets very close to the sun. Long ago, people thought that was the reason it got so hot!
